In February, I flew over to Wellington for a week to visit my family and catch up with my dad for his birthday.
The trip wasn’t nearly as long as I would have liked but it was great to catch up with everyone and soak up some of that rare Wellington summer sun.
Here’s a few snaps from the trip.
My parents’ new home in Waikanae has a sun room! Apparently there’s about ten days a year where the weather’s good enough to sit there and enjoy. Fortunately, we actually got to experience some of that weather.
Having a family dinner at a Thai restaurant for my Dad’s birthday. I was glad I caught this photo of Jen reading to Abbey. Reading is something that Jen and Abbey have bonded over each time they catch up together and this visit was no different.
Hanging out at the Waikanae Esplanade Reserve with my Mum 🙂
Going for a stroll along the beach.
My Dad’s pipe band – the Kapiti Pipe and Drums – performing at The Square in Palmerston North for a regional piping competition.
Swapping stories and sharing a whisky with the Old Man.
No trip to Wellington is complete without a visit to Westpac Stadium to see the Nix play!
Don unsuccessfully trying to eat an icecream before it melts and makes a mess.
My family! I miss them heaps and it was great catching up. My brother’s kids are growing up so fast!
Glad you didn’t mention the score!
