One of the best things we did last month was buy a new couch.
Look at this magnificent bastard right here. Our old couch was really getting me down towards the end. The cushions kept sliding out from under your arse so that no matter what posture you started in, you’d end up slouched with your butt cheeks hanging over the edge. This new guy right here has awesome back support and is optimized for maximum comfort level that doesn’t tip me over the edge so that I fall asleep and never finish watching anything. The old couch has now been relegated to our new guest room where it can make itself useful as a foldout bed when required.
I’ve been fortunate to pick up a couple more single malts over the past few weeks too. Jen’s dad Jim picked up some Caol Isla for me when coming through duty free. Its a little known distillery thats produced quite a peaty and punchy tasting drop. Oban on the other hand is a Highland whisky which is less like getting punched in the face when you first have a sip, but instead has a fantastically drawn out flavoursome aftertaste. Both go down quite a treat.
A couple of weekends back we had a whisky and dinner with some friends, the Jamandas, and they introduced us to Rummikub. We enjoyed it so much that we picked up a copy for ourselves. As games for four players go, its very simple to pick up and learn and you can usually finish a round in about twenty minutes. If you work with the scoring system, you can have a pretty good evening doing a Best of 3 Rounds type of deal. Its right up there with Perudo as one of my favourite board games at the moment.
Lastly, I’ve been working my way through Final Fantasy XIII at the moment on the Playstation 3. These days I generally don’t have the patience to persist with a game for any great length of time so I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed playing FFXIII and I’ve currently clocked in a total of 30 hours on this game. I think I’m starting to get into the final stretch of the game now though and waiting in the wings is Yakuza 3, the latest Western-released instalment of Sega’s excellent Japanese mafia series.
PS3 vs Xbox – whats your thoughts. I have been a loyal Xbox user for a while now – but paying for Xbox live bugs me – its free with PS3 isnt it?
p.s. badass couch
Yeah online play is free. If thats the big difference-maker for you then go for it. You still get all your FIFA and Winning Eleven games on PS3.
Also, handy to have as a Blu Ray player etc.
