Ah, a morning brunch at Bourke St Bakery! Its so small, the counter is about a meter away from the front door and there’s just one window seat indoors. The rest of the seating is all outdoors, on the sidewalk. People come from miles to try out their fresh pastry and coffee and with good reason – it’s absolutely divine. Its not uncommon for the line to stretch out the door (not too difficult) and around the street corner (a more considerable feat).
When Jen and I visited, we demolished the freshly made Pain Au Chocolat and took our time finishing our coffee as the sun beamed down on us. It’s the perfect spot to do a bit of people watching or reading the paper. The baked goods and coffee at Bourke St Bakery are so tasty you’ll want to take your time and savour it. It’s good value too. I think the soup was the only thing that cost more than $7. You can’t get much better than that.
