Christmas for the Inoue family is a big deal. Anyone who’s seen the holiday blogs from past years will know that Jen’s family go a little nuts at Christmas time and lay on an amazing spread of food, put up a ton of decorations and generally get into the festive spirit as good as any family I know. It’s nice to have family tradition and in the Inoue household, I’ve received an orange as a Christmas gift for seventeen consecutive years and 2013 was no different (even if there was a slight twist this year).
My mother-in-law Karen laid on the Christmas dinner this year and she absolutely nailed it. The menu was as follows:
Pumpkin Soup
Truffle, salmon, beetroot and lime
Gin and tonic sorbet
Turkey, pork stuffing, roast potato & carrots, parsnips and beans
Christmas cake, chocolate & strawberry slice, custard
After a very hearty main course we had some whisky to close out the evening. It was an absolutely perfect day.
I hope all the TFW readers enjoyed their own Christmas break. Roll on 2014!
